Fantastic Filmstrip

  1. Open the filmstrip image. You can download it from my Facebook fan page at http://www.facebook.com/pseandmore.
  2. From the Image menu, select Resize, Image Size.
  3. Note the pixel width of the image.
  4. Open the image you want to superimpose on the filmstrip.
  5. From the Image menu, select Resize, Image Size.
  6. Change the width of the new image to match the width of the filmstrip.
  7. Ensure the three boxes at the bottom of the dialog box are checked.
  8. From the Project Bin, make the filmstrip active by double-clicking.
  9. From the Project Bin, drag your image on to the filmstrip.
  10. From the Toolbox, select the Move tool and line up the two pictures.
  11. If you want to change the picture to a black and white, go to the Enhance menu and select Convert to black and white. Otherwise leave it color.
  12. Select Portrait from styles and click ok.
  13. From the Layers palette, create a clipping group by holding the alt/opt key and click between the two layers.
  14. From the Layers palette, change the blending mode to Linear Dodge.
  15. To enhance the dark at the edges, go to the Layers palette and select the Layer mask.
  16. In the Toolbox, select the Gradient tool.
  17. In the option bar choose the black and white gradient and select the reflective gradient icon.
  18. From the middle of the image, hold down the shift key and drag toward the edge of the filmstrip.
  19. You can also disregard this step if your image looks good without dark edges.
